In Taiwan, every student under 12 spends an estimated 1200 hours in school and almost 1000 hours watching TV every year. Media influence on children is quite large. In order to expand children’s cultural perspective, the Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival (TICFF) was inaugurated by the Public Television Service Foundation (PTS) in 2004.
In addition to feature, documentary, animation and TV programs, TICFF holds an international competition with large-sum prizes for aspiring filmmakers to create works with original, interesting and multicultural perspectives. |
