Ocean

Ocean - Documentary Synopsis

The thirty-five short films are visual stories with no-narration, no-music and minimalist dialogues with fishermen. Unadorned and unadulterated, Ocean displays a collection of marine images in a plain and simple way. Gazing at the images, one sees a true representation of marine life and the myriad ways humans exploit the ocean, as well as the ocean’s power to strike back.

Ocean – Brief Introductory Overview of Short Films

The planning, production and film content of Ocean is an important observation and record of nearly 20 years of changes in the marine environment. Therefore, from The Ocean Crystal Palace[tentative title](瀛海水晶宮) in 1994 to Remember the Coral Reef (記憶珊瑚) in 2004, the film content continued to focus on actual situations of the marine environment and the way humans exploit marine resources. On the other hand, due to the length limitation of TV documentaries, and the large number of viewers watching videos on mobile devices, we purposely used short videos formats online to provide a comprehensive representation of the various maritime features.
