The Love of Understanding

Behind every great man there's always a great woman, and behind every great woman, there's always a bullheaded man! 44-year-old Lu Zhong-yi is a workaholic occupational therapist on a mission to change the lives of children in Taiwan - all except his own, who he barely sees that is to say!

Fortunately, with a little bit of heavenly intervention, Zhong-yi struck gold when he married artist wife Hong Zhao-xuan, who has always been at hand to hold the fort at home.

In this episode, we discover how Zhong-yi's turbulent childhood has affected his life; why opening an art gallery left his wife Zhao-xuan in a surreal kind of quandary; and where the couple's seemingly parallel lives eventually cross.

Lu Zhong-yi:I have a way with kids. I can guide them make them happier and improve their abilities. I explain kids' conditions to parents so they can accept their strong points and their weaknesses. I'm only good at this. If I can only do this then I need to find a way to excel in this thing. Otherwise, I…I won't have a job. I'll be useless.

Hong Zhao-xuan:We don't have time to interact. So this could be considered a rare family day for us. Our whole family participates in his events. It's a way for the family to spend time together.

Chen Jia-lan:Us adults have let go of such grievances. Your generation have let it go. We've let go, so you…if he calls or whatever you should still chat with him and maintain this father-son... You'll never be able to truly severe that.

Sam Cen:Like, in the past my parents marital misfortune was something I partly blamed myself for. I wondered if we hadn't behaved well enough. I wasn't good enough so Dad chose to leave us for another family. And became a father of kids I realized that there were things that arose within their marriage which had nothing to do with me.
