Selena Tsao

Selena is a senior journalist in Taiwan and has devoted herself to media for more than 20 years. Her career started before the lifting of press ban in 1987, spanning from the mainstream print, electronic to network medium. She had been a journalist covering environmental issues, finance and economics; a special feature reporter and TV news magazine producer. She has been working at PTS since 2001 and had served as the chief editor of News department and the researcher of R&D department. She is now the producer of International department. She produced the award-winning documentary, ‘Bird Without Borders - Black-faced Spoonbills’. This documentary traces the multinational migration of black-faced spoonbills had been nominated or selected for 11 international film festivals, including official selection of Natural TIFF, one of the biggest film festivals in Asia. It became the first PTS program nominated as the best achievement in HD for Asian TV awards. It was also the winner of special prize for biodiversity for Tokyo Earth Vision.

Her recent research papers include ‘The Practice and Construction of the Accountability System for Taiwan Public Service Broadcasting’ (2008) published on Mass Communication Research and ‘Research on the Ethical Codes of TV News’ (2002).
